To define intersections in Network Screening - Intersections, South Carolina DOT provided AASHTOWare Safety with intersection center points, and based on that data, AASHTOWare Safety created intersection legs.

  • Intersection Leg Definition: If the leg is within 50 feet of the center of the intersection, that leg will be included in the intersection.

  • All intersection legs are ~264 feet in length.

  • Although intersection legs can overlap with another intersection, SCDOT assigns crashes to the intersection with the highest functional class to avoid double-counting crashes.
