To define intersections in Network Screening - Intersections, New Jersey DOT provided AASHTOWare Safety with its intersection centerpoints, and the Numetric team created the intersection geometry.

Intersection Legs:

  • If the leg is within 50 feet of the center of an intersection, it will be included in the intersection.

  • If the legs of two different intersections overlap, the overlapping legs are cut short by the length of the overlap divided by 2.

Intersection Leg Length:

  • All intersection legs are 250 feet

How Crashes are Joined to Intersections

  • Crashes within 250 ft of an intersection where “At Intersection = Yes” are assigned an intersection ID.

Complex Intersections

New Jersey has complex intersections, which are intersections that are made up of more than one junction.
