ALDOT - How Intersections are Defined

Written by Lauren Miller

To define intersections in Network Screening - Intersections, Alabama DOT provided AASHTOWare Safety with its intersection geometry.

In Network Screening - Intersections, all Alabama intersections follow the same criteria:

Intersection Legs:

  • The default intersection leg length is 200 feet in length.

  • Intersection legs will not overlap; if another intersection leg is within 200 ft, the overlapped legs are shortened to half of the length of the overlap.
