The Predictive Analysis application facilitates creating, managing, evaluating, and updating an agency’s Safety Performance Functions (SPFs) in an easily accessible interface.

Segments: Predictive Attributes

The following outlines Alabama’s chosen predictive attributes used to generate Optimal Fit SPF groupings for segments:

Urban/Rural

  • Urban

  • Rural

Route Type

  • Interstate (IN)

  • Local (IV)

  • Ramp (RP)

  • State (AL)

  • Unknown

Number of Lanes

  • 1 Lane

  • 2 Lanes

  • 3 Lanes

  • 4 Lanes

Divided/Undivided

  • Divided

  • Undivided

Crash Attributes

  • All Crashes

  • Fatal and all Injury

Requirements for Optimal Fit Creation

  • Minimum Crashes: 100

  • Minimum Segments: 50

Intersections: Predictive Attributes

Urban/Rural

  • Urban

Intersection Type

  • T-Intersection

  • Y- Intersection

  • Roundabouts

  • Five or More Legs and Not Circular

  • Other Circular Intersections (E.G. Rotaries, Neighborhood Traffic Circles

  • Cross-Intersections (Four Legs)

Traffic Control Type

  • All-Way Stop

  • Flash Beacon (Include Rectangular Rapid Flash Beacon)

  • Other

  • Railroad Crossing, Crossbucks Only

  • Railroad Crossing, Flashing Lights Only
