Below is a list of frequently used fields for use in crash data analysis in New Jersey. Included are brief descriptions of each field and a definition of what criteria is included. Each field outlined below is created using data as imputed by the reporting officer on the NJTR-1 and aggregated for ease-of-use.

Behavioral Countermeasures

BC: High Visibility Cell Phone and Distracted Driving Enforcement

WHEN

All Vehicle Contributing Circumstances (1+2) = Any of the following (Other Distraction Inside Vehicle, Other Distraction Outside of Vehicle, Distracted by Passenger, Distracted by Handheld Electronic Device)

BC: Law Enforcement Roles-Older Drivers

WHEN

Older Driver (65+) Involved = Yes

BC: High Visibility Speed Enforcement

WHEN

Unsafe Speed Involved = Yes

BC: High Visibility Saturation Patrol

WHEN

Alcohol Crash = True

AND

Drugged Driver Involved = Yes

BC: Publicized Sobriety Checkpoints

WHEN

Alcohol or Drugged = Yes

AND

Road System ≠ Any of the following (State, Interstate Authority, State Highway, Interstate, State or Interstate Authority)

BC: Short Term, High Visibility Seat Belt Enforcement
