The Arizona Department of Transportation has created Crash Fact Dashboards for the years 2006-2025 to help visualize and share crash reporting information with the public. Each Crash Fact Dashboard provides crash, person, and vehicle data from crashes occurring in the specified year that occurred on Arizona’s public roadways. Each dashboard provides data visualizations, crash mapping, and easy-to-use filtering, allowing users to find various crash data for a specific city, county, or Tribal Agency.

Note: The year of the Crash Facts Dashboard you’re viewing is displayed in the default filter in the top-left corner. This filter identifies the dashboard year and cannot be changed or removed.

The Arizona DOT Crash Facts Dashboards are composed of four main areas: The Quick Filters Sidebar, the top filter bar, the dashboard page tabs, and the Metrics.

Each dashboard contains various pages, each with a different focus to give users insight into the crash data from various perspectives.

The pages in each Crash Facts Dashboard are:

Users can navigate between the available dashboard pages by clicking the page tabs located below the filter bar or by using the navigation arrows. If the browser window is resized to a smaller width, the page tabs are replaced with a drop-down menu that provides access to the same pages. Any filters applied to the dashboard remain in place when navigating between pages.

The Quick Filters Sidebar contains a curated list of filters available in easy-to-use dropdown menus. To apply a filter from the sidebar, simply click on the dropdown menu and select the value(s) from the list. Users can either scroll through the list of available values or type into the search bar.

The Quick Filters Sidebar is displayed to the right of the dashboard by default. To hide the Quick Filter Sidebar, click the hide/expand arrow to the left of the sidebar. Click the same arrow to expand the sidebar.

Additionally, the charts in a Dashboard serve as interactive filters. Clicking on an element of a chart applies the selected value as a filter.

Anytime a filter is added (by any method), it will appear in the filter bar at the top of the screen. Click the “X” icon next to an added filter to remove it, or to remove all added filters, click the “X” icon on the far right side of the top filter bar. When five or more filters are in the filter bar, users can click “Hide Filters” to collapse the filter view.

The Metrics section of a Dashboard page displays data through charts, graphs, and individual metrics. Each component automatically updates to reflect any filters applied to the Dashboard. When a filter is applied, the metrics displayed on the Dashboard remain the same, but the data updates to reflect the selected filter criteria.

To get a better view of any charts, hover over the top right corner of the chart and click the “Zoom” button. This will open an expanded view of the selected chart.

Any chart can be downloaded as a PNG image by hovering over the top right corner of the chart and clicking the “Download” button.

Some metrics display crash-level numbers, while others display person-level data. Pay attention to the column header to determine what each metric represents. For example, in the Arizona Crash Highlights table, the first five metrics count crash-level injury severity, while the remaining three metrics count the number of injured persons in each crash. Click the name of a column header to change the ranking of the metrics between ascending and descending order. If a column header title is cut off, hover over it to display a tooltip containing the full name.

Any table in the dashboard can be downloaded as a .csv file by clicking the “Download” button in the bottom left corner of the table.

Users can download the crash data from the dashboard in an easy-to-share PDF report. Reports include all of the charts, tables, and other elements on the selected dashboard page.

To download a report, click the download button in the top right corner of the screen.

The “Report Options” pop-up box will open. Here, users can name the report and select the dashboard tab to download as the report.

Once the appropriate dashboard tab has been selected and the report has been titled, users can click “Create Report.” This will open the “Report Preview” view. From here, users can download the PDF by clicking the “Save & Download” button in the top right corner.

Users can click “Back” in the top-left corner to return to the dashboard.
