The following Behavioral Countermeasures have been identified by Michigan State Police and are available as filters and metrics in the MiCAT application.

Below is a list of each Behavioral Countermeasure and the crash characteristics that are used to determine if a crash could be addressed by the countermeasure.


Older Drivers

"Older Drivers" is recommended to mitigate crashes that match the following criteria:

Older Driver Involved = Yes


High Visibility Cell Phone and Distracted Driving Enforcement

"High Visibility Cell Phone and Distracted Driving Enforcement" is recommended to mitigate crashes that match the following criteria:

Distracted Driver Involved = Yes

OR

Driver Distracted By = Other distraction inside Veh OR Electronic Device - Other OR Hand-Held Device (Talk) OR Hands-Free Device (Talk) OR Activity Outside Vehicle OR Passenger

High Visibility Saturation Patrol: Impairment

"High Visibility Saturation Patrol: Impairment" is recommended to mitigate crashes that match the following criteria:

Alcohol Involved = Yes

OR

Drugged Driver Involved = Yes


Short Term, High Visibility Seat Belt Law Enforcement

"Short Term, High Visibility Seat Belt Law Enforcement" is recommended to mitigate crashes that match the following criteria:

Seat Belt Involved = Seat Belts Not Used


Enforcement of GDL and Zero-Tolerance Laws

"Enforcement of GDL and Zero-Tolerance Laws" is recommended to mitigate crashes that match the following criteria:

Driver Age is between 16 and 20

AND

Night Time = Yes


Enforcement of Drug Impaired Driving

"Enforcement of Drug Impaired Driving" is recommended to mitigate crashes that match the following criteria:

Drugged Driver Involved = Yes


Bicycle Enforcement Strategies

"Bicycle Enforcement Strategies" is recommended to mitigate crashes that match the following criteria:

Bicycle Involved = Yes


Youth Programs: Impairment

"Youth Programs: Impairment" is recommended to mitigate crashes that match the following criteria:

Party Type = Driver

AND

Driver Age < 21

AND

Alcohol or Drugged Driver Involved = Yes
