Overview

Numetric allows users with the appropriate user permissions to edit certain fields in the Crash dataset. Only users with the Edit Crash Data user permission are able to edit and modify crash data. Access to edit crash data is granted by your organization's user administrator. Any edited data fields will be displayed throughout all Numetric applications to all Numetric users.

All data edits completed in Numetric are non-destructive, meaning the original data is maintained in its original state, while the edited data values are stored independently within the system. This ensures that the integrity of the original data is preserved, while still allowing the edited data values to be displayed in the Numetric platform.

An audit trail tracks the history of all data edits, displaying when the edit was made, who made the edit, as well as the original value, and the edited value.

Note: Any user with access to Collision Diagrams can do a limited edit of data that is isolated within their saved diagram. Any edits to data are stored within the saved diagram exclusively and are not reflected anywhere else in the Numetric platform.

How to edit Crash Data

Users with the Edit Crash Data user permission have the ability to edit crash data directly within Numetric. Users can access the Data Editing screen through the Crash Flyout found in Crash Query, or Safety Analysis.

To edit values in a crash, open the Crash Flyout for the selected crash. From within the Crash Flyout click the Edit Attributes button, located under the street view. (Note: The Edit Attributes button is only available to users with the Edit Crash Data user permission)

After clicking Edit Attributes, the Narrative & Attributes window will appear. This window contains all of the editable fields within the Crash dataset.

The Narrative & Attribute window contains the crash narrative (if available), as well as the Crash Details, Location Details, and the Edits & Notes section, which keeps a record of the edits made to the data.

Editing Crash Details

Under the Crash Details tab, users can modify the following fields:

  • Manner of collision

  • First Harmful Event

  • KABCO Severity

  • Vehicle 1 Direction and Maneuver

  • Vehicle 2 Direction and Maneuver

(Note: the names of these fields may vary depending on the naming structure within your organization)

Note that users cannot add or remove a vehicle, and can only edit details for vehicles 1 and 2 (no subsequent vehicles).

After editing the desired values, and clicking the Apply Edits button, a log of the edits, and any comments included in the Comments field, will be displayed under the Edits & Notes section to the right.

Editing Location Details

Under the Location Details tab, users can modify the following fields:

  • Route ID

  • Milepoint

  • City

  • County

  • Street Name

  • Intersecting Roadway

  • Comments

After editing the desired values, and clicking the Apply Edits button, a lot of the edits, and any comments included in the Comments field, will be displayed under the Edits & Notes section to the right.
