Open In Overview

Move your work from one app to another without starting over

Written by Lauren Miller

Open In takes your current work into another app, so you don't have to set up the same filters again. For example, you can find crashes in Crash Query and then screen those locations in Network Screening, or study a road section in Safety Analysis. This article lists where Open In is available and what each app needs before the option turns on.

ℹ️ Note: The apps available in the Open In menus depend on your organization's setup and your user permissions.

Network Screening and Advanced Network Screening

  • Add at least one polygon, circle, or crash filter first. The options stay grayed out until you do.

  • If your date range is different from the screening's default dates, you're asked which dates to use.

Safety Analysis

  1. Select the road sections with the Line Tool. Learn more in Crash Query - Line Tool Overview.

  2. Click Open In > Safety Analysis.

  • The option is grayed out until your query has at least one Route ID or Intersection ID filter.

  • Your query can have only Route or Intersection ID filters, up to 20. Open In may not work as expected with crash filters, polygons, or circles.

From Network Screening and Advanced Network Screening

  1. In Network Screening or Advanced Network Screening, click a location in your results.

  2. Click Open In and select an app: Alternative Design, Collision Diagrams (from Intersections screenings), Crash Query, Predictive Analysis, or Safety Analysis.
