Find an explanation of filters available in GDOT summarized here.
% of Vehicles Exceeding Speed Limit ≥ 10 MPH (Clearguide)
The “% of Vehicles Exceeding Speed Limit ≥ 10 MPH (Clearguide)” filter shows the percentage of vehicles traveling 10+ mph over the posted speed limit at locations with 25+ observations. Results display in the following preset ranges:
0–5%
5–15%
15–25%
25–50%
75%+
This filter displays data from the most recent month of available speed data. Speed data will be updated periodically to remain current.
The same information is available as a map layer in Crash Query. To enable it, open Layer Settings in the map toolbar and look under Other for the “% of Vehicles Exceeding Speed Limit ≥ 10 MPH (Clearguide)” layer options.

Bridge Data work/filters
GDOT bridge data has been joined to the crash data if the crash occurred within the bridge's radius.
Minimum bridge radius: 125 ft
Maximum bridge radius: 1000 ft
Census Filters
The census filters are built from census data and allow users to filter crashes based on various census criteria. The following outlines the logic of each filter.
Employment (Census) - This filter displays crashes that occurred in a census tract with the indicated number of occupation categories.
Median Household Income (Census) - This filter displays crashes in census tracts with the indicated median household income.
Median Household Income Group (Census) - This filter allows users to group median household incomes based on natural breaks, which are classes based on natural groupings inherent in data. The natural breaks for the Median Household Income Group (Census) filter are:
0 - No median household income
1 - $2500 to $14514
2 - $14764 to $37054
3 - $37136 to $53097
4 - $53125 to $68207
5 - $68497 to $84453
6 - $84583 to $103345
7 - $103487 to $127109
8 - $127431 to $157784
9 - $157986 to $195380
10 - $196923 to $249028
Population Per Square Mile (Census) - This filter displays crashes that took place in census tracts with the indicated population per square mile.
Population Per Square Mile Group (Census) - This filter allows users to group population per square mile census tracts based on natural breaks, which are classes based on natural groupings inherent in data. The natural breaks for the Population Per Square Mile (Census) filter are:
0: No population per square mile reported
1: 1 - 724
2: 725 - 1780
3: 1781 - 3002
4: 3003 - 4619
5: 4620 - 6892
6: 6893 - 10168
7: 10169 - 14907
8: 14908 - 23711
9: 23712 - 51464
10: 51465 - 102633
Curve Data work/filters
GDOT curve data was joined to the crash data. If the crash is within 150 feet of a curve, it is assigned to the curve.

Inventory Route Number Filter
This filter combines the route number and route suffix to create the inventory route number, enabling users to filter crashes along a single corridor.
Land Cover Filter
The Land Cover filter lets users filter and view land cover classification information for specific roadways and crashes. This data allows users to apply context classifications to their analysis. For example, instead of simply querying “rural” area crashes, users can now search for Rural Built Area crashes.
The Land Cover filter is based on 2023 ESRI Land Cover data, which classifies the developed status of land. The ESRI data used to create this filter categorizes land classifications in 10-meter sections. The classifications available for each section are:
Built area
Trees
Rangeland
Crops
Water
Flooded vegetation
Bare ground
More information about these ESRI class definitions and land cover data can be found here. The land cover classification for the midpoint of a segment applies to the entire segment.
(Disclaimer: The roads displayed in the graphic above are used as examples and may not represent the actual Land Cover filter values. )
Note: Divided roadways may have different land cover results. For example, a northbound segment could have a different land classification than the opposing southbound segment.
(Disclaimer: The roads displayed in the graphic above are used as examples and may not represent the actual Land Cover filter values.)
Narrative
Users can view the crash narrative in the crash flyout and use keywords to filter the narrative.
