The Crash Flyout in Crash Query is the panel that shows one crash up close: what happened, where, and when, along with a street-level view and a link to the crash report, when available. This article shows how to open it from the map or the Raw Table, and what you can do there.
Preview a Crash
Zoom in until crash clusters (or dots) are visible, and then hover over a cluster or dot. A tooltip shows information about the crashes in the cluster, or about the single crash if it's a dot. The details shown depend on your organization's configuration.
(The tooltip that appears when you hover over a crash on the map)
Open the Crash Flyout
Click a crash cluster or dot. The map zooms to the crash, and the Crash Flyout opens on the right. The flyout title shows the crash's severity.
đĄ Tip: If the map doesn't zoom to the crash, auto-zoom is probably turned off in your account. Map Toolbar Overview explains how to turn it on.
(The Crash Flyout)
Street View: A Google Street View image of the location. Click the expand icon for a fullscreen view. If there's no image for that spot, the flyout says "Street View not available."
Exclude this Crash: Leaves this crash out of your query.
Crash Details: Information about the crash, such as document and crash numbers, date and time, location, severity, and conditions. The details available depend on your organization's configuration.
Close (X): Closes the flyout.
Crash Report and Nearby Assets
Scroll to the bottom of the flyout for more:
(The bottom of the Crash Flyout, with the crash report link and nearby assets)
Link (when available): Organizations can include custom links here, such as the crash report.
Assets within (when available): Lists assets near the crash. If there are no assets nearby, none are listed.
Show Nearby Assets on the Map
1. Next to Assets within, select 500 ft or 1000 ft, and turn on Show on Map.
(The Assets within distance menu and the Show on Map toggle)
2. The assets appear on the map around the crash.
(Nearby assets shown on the map around the crash)
3. To change how an asset looks on the map, click its color box in the asset list. Then:
Color: Click the color bar, select a color, and then click Apply.
Opacity: Select a value from the list.
Line Width (line assets only, such as barriers): Select a value from the list.
(The asset color picker)
(Asset settings, with the barrier shown in its new color and line width)
4. Click Back to return to the Crash Flyout.
âšď¸ Note: Asset details come from data your organization uploaded, so they may be incomplete. An asset may not have been there at the time of the crash, or there may be an asset that isn't listed.
Exclude a Crash From Your Query
Click Exclude this Crash.
Select why you're excluding it: Inaccurate Crash Details, Inaccurate Crash Location, Irrelevance to query, or Other.
Click Exclude.
(The Exclude Crash window)
You can also exclude a crash in the Raw Table by clearing its checkbox in the Include column.
The crash is removed from this query's map, metrics, charts, and downloads. The exclusion applies only to this query and is saved with it. The crash data itself doesn't change.
To bring the crash back, click Include in its Crash Flyout, select its checkbox again in the Raw Table, or use the crash exclusion notification above the Metrics Sidebar.
(The crash exclusion notification above the Metrics Sidebar)
Click Through Crashes
In the Raw Table, click any row to open that crash's Crash Flyout.
(Opening a crash from the Raw Table and clicking through crashes)
Use the arrows at the top of the flyout to move to the previous or next crash in the table.
(The previous and next arrows in the Crash Flyout)
When you click a crash cluster on the map, the flyout shows the same arrows so you can click through each crash in the cluster.
